Hissing From Fuel Tank

Not sure if this is normal, but there is a hissing noise coming from my fuel tank. It's always been there, but I was never sure if it's supposed to do that... Anybody know?

Hissing as in air leak type noise? Does it go away when you pop the gas cap, or after you shut off the engine does the noise go away right away or slowly?

Hissing noise...no. But, there is a submerged fuel pump in the tank that emits a high pitched whine that may be audible.
