High pinion dana 30
Okay, I have a 2000 sport with the low pinion dana 30 that is starting to leak everywhere and would like to put in a high pinion 30. What years came with them and how difficult will this be? Thanks

84-99 I believe, all you would want to be aware of is the vacuum disco version of the early models.

1984-1999 had them but i would say the newer the better. older ones had a vacuum disconnect front axle that would need to be addressed. would be a direct swap, not too difficult

I just aqiured one with the Vac Disco and all you need to address that is a 33.00 plate that goes over the area after you remove all the equipment then you need on piece shafts.

95+ had larger ujoints... I think. (it's in the sticky at the top of the forum)

but older ones with ABS also had the bigger u-joints. none that have the 242 have the vac disco. so a 1990 with a 242 t-case and ABS is the same as a 99, but newer is better.

the vac disconnect ended in like 92

Ya i guess you can call it the weak link but first what are your mods?
Are you sure you need to change it? what is the primary purpose of it? how often are you gonna go wheeling? If i ever broke mine then i might switch to a HP but my LP is just fine with the 3.55 31's and ive heard alot of people say even with 4.5 and 33's they have no problems with the LP. If you brake more than 1 LP 30 than i would say you should be going to a 44 anyways.

I just picked up a '92 with 4.10 gears to replace my crappy lp d30. Definitely do not mess with getting a vac disconnect d30.

Not to hijack your thread, but I recently put new pads and rotors on my LP D30 and plan on switching to a HP D30 this summer...are there any years that I will be able to switch my pads and rotors from the LP to the HP?
