herculine instead of headliner

well i bought an 89 cherokee and the headliner is trying to eat me so i am thinking instead of reglueing it just ripping it down and herculine it. maybe throw down a drop cloth so i dont have to remove everything. i guess i would only have to deal with the dome light wiring. has any one done this or just ripped it down and left it bare, and if so can i get some pics?

People sometimes remove it. Why not just go to the junkyard and replace your headliner with one from a newer XJ? Like a 97+? They are a direct fit.

Haha the 3m glue doesnt work anyways. I re-upholstered mine, and used Headliner material and Permatex Headliner adhesive from Autozoo. It took about 3 hours from start to finish.

This is before I realized that 97+ are interchangeable....

one thing...it's a pain to get in one piece, adn carry it home. you might want to do it there, and watch the wind. if you're holding it and the wind kicks up, you'll destroy the liner...or go flying.

any way, another thing...if you're in a sunny, warm or hot area, removing the liner makes the cabin hotter than normal...but, i'll be removing the liner soon and going with some herc...just covering everything...wires, lines, zip lines, everything will be covered but my drivers and pass door. well, they'll be covered, but i'm putting paneling back on for the driver and pass.

Black wheels and herculined everything.

This is like that book where everyone starts looking and acting like everyone else and no one could tell themselves apart from the other. Creepy.
