HELP! Locked my keys in the car!

I know I know, let the hazing begin...

I swore to myself that I would never do this, but it happened. Anyway to get them out? Any tricks to release the doors (4dr, manual locks, a '93 w/ 5spd). Anything? Anyone?

TIA

-Nick

You can attempt to use a slim jim, but unless you already have one, you will find it hard to find one for sale - in most places they are prohibited unless you are a cop or locksmith. If you have AAA, then they will get you out for free - it happed to me on my moms car. Other than that, you can always go to your local DC dealer and bring your VIN, they can make a key for you, but you have to prove you own the car, I think.

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago. First, are you sure your insurance doesn't cover a locksmith? Mine does up to $50, so I just had a guy come and open it. It took him less than a minute, charged me $60. Anyway, all he did was use a plastic wedge shoved down between the window and the body to ope it up. Then he used a metal rod to unlatch the lock. You could do the same thing easily with a coat hanger.

if you have full coverage insurance, they will cover a broken window. not for getting keys out, but for say a rock from cutting grass or some punk kid. If you have a friend or relative with AAA, they can call it in and say its their car, IF the rep says we show you have a honda civic, you can tell them they just got the jeep. I have pulled that trick a few times and never got caught. However if they do catch on, they would send a bill to the friend or relative so be prepared to pay it.

I was just looking on AAA's website, going to sign up soon. It says as long as YOU have the card, it's good in whatever car you are riding in. Yours, your friends, a rental car, whatever.

Guess that is why I always got away with it. Took me a while to learn to make spare keys and keep them in my wallet. Only problem is the Jeep door key is the same as the ignition.

im not sure what year they stopped with the wing windows, but if u got them u can always just push one in, pretty cheap to replace, or try the coat hanger thing, otherwise have every jeeper on here send u a copy of there key, one of them has to work. o wait, just drive it over here....

Yeah, that's a really good idea. It's funny, my spare key was in the glovebox when I was locked out. I had just taken it out of my wallet because I was flying and didn't want to take it through the airport....

i say bust out the vent window, pretty easy fix if you do this, i'll tell you every step to remove the old vent window frame, but i got a new one at a junk yard for 18 bucks... cheaper than a locksmith, unfortunatly my window got broken out from a thug breaking into my jeep, fortunatly, my ghetto factory alarm that goes off every time I use a key to unlock my dooor went off and scared them away...anyone know how to disengage the factory alarm?
