help.. coolant temp sensor
I have a low temp problem with my '87 cherokee 4.0, i am thinking it may be air in my system, where is the cooling temp sensor located???? i have read that i could take it out and add coolant until it runs out the hole, i have a closed system and the only thing i found aparently wasn it, i changed my daighters on her '95 it easy to find.. any hepl/ or pics would be greatly appreciated. The thing i found was on the heat shield on the driver side behind the throttle body, there was not a drop of water in the hole and none left the coolant bottle after i loostened the top.

The coolant temp. sender is on the drivers side below the exhaust manifold. There is a sender on the head, at the back on the drivers side, next to the valve cover. This is the sender for the guage. it it seperate from the other one which is for the ECU. the one for the guage is most likely the thing you found. You can leave it out as you fill the system to remove most of the air. But you will still need to burp the system.
