i dont know if this was the best thing but i pulled up my carpet in the back, drilled out the broken bolt and drilled all the way though the floor. then i used a long bolt with a big washer so the floorbord is holding them in. Worked for me but may not be the best thing todo

Same thing happened to my mechanic last month when he was installing my Bilsteins... 3 of the 4 rear shock bolts snapped... apparently it's a common problem on our Jeeps... he had to pull out my rear carpet and quarter panels, and do some cutting and welding. I heard one of the best things to do before you replace your shocks is to spray them with some wd40 everyday for a full week before you attempt to remove them.

urban-yan, WD-40 won't do it. Go with PB-Blaster.

Easiest way for me was to pull the carpet, cut the metal, bolt through. Bought some metal sheets from the local metal yard cut to size and sealed back on over the hole. Can't even tell it happened. By the way all 4 of mine broke. Good Luck.

All 4 of mine broke, Just cut the heads off some bolts and welded them to the broken bolts... holding good for over a year now. If any of them snap I'll be doing the remove carpet and drill for new bolt method..

Everyone is so quick to pull up carpet and cut a hole in the floor. I expected that my shock mount bolts would break when I did my lift a few weeks ago. Sure enough, all four broke.
I punched out the broken bolts and then installed BPEs from JKS. There is an access area that you can reach your hand in to get the nut started (or just tape it to a wrench) on the new bolt. It is a bit frustrating and takes a few tries but it was definitely worth the patience rather than cutting through the floor.

I just fixed mine today. After soaking for 5 days with PBblaster, all four snapped right off.....so.....I grabbed a punch and a hammer and knocked three of them out. I had to get out the air chisel for the one above the exhaust...I couldn't get a hard enough shot with the hammer there. After I had four open holes, I used one of those extender magnets.....stuck the grade 8 bolt/washer to it and wriggled it through the access hole. Worked like a charm. The driver side was tougher because the access hole is partially blocked by some wiring harnesses and other hard lines (brakes?).
