Heater won't turn off!!!

Had to disconnect the hoses during the summer because the heat kept coming even when turned off. Now with them reconnected for the winter the heat is OK, but I know it won't be long before summer will be back and the A/C will not cool enough to overcome the heat. What's going on? Ideas anyone?

Im pretty sure the slider that controls the air temperature controls a vaccum motor somewhere behind the dash. That vaccum motor might be damaged.
