If you do take it somewhere and they figure out what's wrong with the seats I'd be interested in knowing what the fix was. Please post info on it if you get time after the fix.

This is still a great post. Yesterday, while waiting for my kids, I turned on the heated seat only to find a blinking hi light. I performed the checks mentioned and there was an open on the front seat warmer. I pulled off the seat cover and checked the connections, all were good. I was ready to pack it in when I decided to gently slilce into the foam on the bottom of the cover. I was able to expose the wires inside the seat and sure enough, there was a burn spot. I spliced the wire, taped up the foam checked the connection and have a warm bottom once again.

Mine too are still going strong since my repair. I've already used them several times this season.

NICE thread
Great thread, pictures are helpful. 2000 Cherokee LTD. My passenger side (driver's side is fine) seat isn't working. Switch flashes which indicates a broken circuit. I pulled the seat and found one wire connection on the seat bottom and one connection on the seat lumbar; both were good / no break / no burnt spot / etc. Two questions: how many connections are there; should I be looking for more than 2? Also, any ideas on what to check other than broken connections?

It's me again. I just re-read the thread trying to see if I missed anything. If I'm reading correctly (the info isn't lined up in columns so I'm not sure if I am) when the LO led is flashing (which is the case with mine) it is indicating a "NTC Sensor Value Out of Range".... what does that mean / what do I do?

showes- I believe you are interpreting the info correctly. Mine were flashing only the "Hi" indicators which corresponded to my open circuits on each seat. My understanding is that the "NTC sensor value out of range" (flashing of only the LO) means that the system used to sense the temperature of the seats is not working properly. I don't remember precisely how it works but its purpose is basically that of a thermostat to turn the current to the seat heater on and off (or otherwise regulate the current) to keep the seats heating properly.
Since my problem was with the heater element itself I wouldn't know what to tell you about troubleshooting or fixing this- sorry.

No blinking light on disfunctional heated seats
My stock heated seats in a 99 cherokee limited are not working; but the high and low light goes on and stays on as if they were - not blinking. Anybody have this problem and found a cure?
Thanks in advance. |

Cogna....I have the same problem in my '01 limited.
My drivers side seat works great. My passenger side is the one that is not heating. Due to the girl being an ice cube in the car, I'm reminded every time we go somewhere. Even though my lights were not blinking I proceeded to check those things out as if they were. Everything was fine. (Getting the seat cover back on with those wires & loops was fun by the way) I've scoured the Internet for a solution to the problem with no luck as far as "lights on, no heat". On Monday I will probably try the dealership and get a repair kit. I will let you know if that works. If not, well then I'm more poor, but one step closer to a solution. |

I didn't actually test the continuity in the seats but I think its ok, otherwise, the LEDs would blink. Under the passenger seat there is a fuse and some kind of circuit board. I'm thinking at least one of these two could be cooked. It will need a thorough investigation with a multi-tester.
Spoke to the dealer about it already. They want $100 just to look at it. |
