H4 Headlight Conversions and ARB/IPF H4 Headlight Sytem Wire Loom Upgrade Question
Okay, I've done some research but before I push the "send" button and spend some more of my hard earned $$$, I want to confirm that I've gotten everything straight.
I presently have a 1999 stock Jeep Cherokee Sport that, based on what I've read on this forum, comes outfitted with factory sealed beam headlamps. In order to replace these, I need to install the following: (A) DELTA® Rectangular H4 Headlight Conversion Kit with Xenon H4 Bulbs (See link: Delta Tech 1-1249-50X - DELTA® Rectangular H4 Headlight Conversion Kit with Xenon H4 Bulbs for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ & 84-01 Jeep® Cherokee XJ - Quadratec ) (B) ARB H4 Headlight System Wire Loom/Harness Upgrade (See link: ARB M002 - ARB H4 Headlight Sytem Wire Loom Upgrade - Quadratec ) Do I have the correct ARB/IPF Wiring Loom/Harness? I don't want to order the wrong wiring loom/harness. Do I need anything else? After I install A&B, will I be able to swap the H4 bulb in the H4 conversion kit with the following bulb .... PIAA 15962 - PIAA H4 Bulb Twin Pack - Super Plasma GT-X Series - Quadratec I purchased the PIAA H4 Super Plasma GT-X Bulbs BEFORE I realized that 99 Jeeps have factory sealed bulbs : ![]() Thanks for everyone's advice. Martin

First off Quadratec is a rip off! Do not buy anything from them.
The Hella ECE H4 is a better choice headlight for about the same price. Delta is not exactly a preffered brand, just cheap.... If you want the best get Cibies click here also the ARB harness is waaay overpriced. You can get just as good a harness for 1/2 the price here I've had mine on my Jeep for years. Your wise to ask questions and do more research before clicking and don't let anyone talk you into putting an hid kit in your H4's ![]() best of luck

What's wrong with Quadratec? I've purchased quite a bit of stuff from them over the past month.
Thanks for the recommendation on the Hella's. Martin |

Martin, there's nothing wrong with Quadratec if you're not on a budget.
I find their products are grossly overpriced.

I have the ARB harness and would rather have it than the one posted.

I just did the Hella H4 E code lens upgrade on my 2000 XJ with the +50 Hella bulbs. I couldn't be happier. Got mine off Amazon from Susquhana Motorsports for 106.00 I think. I did not upgrade the harness and things seem to be working fine. The dims are very good and the brights are excellent. Now for some fog lights!

The eAutoworks harness is even cheaper and works good. Had mine on for a year now. I did just burn out a Fatboy X bulb though.

Hmmmm, I had the Hella e-codes and didn't like them at all. The high beam had a huge black dead spot right in the middle of the beam and that was with serverasl different types of high quality bulbs. I then went with the Cibies and they produced a much better beam Hi and low. And, I also tried the Delta's and they also were great. (Not quite as as good as the Cibies) They also are not cheaply made and made in Europe as well.

Hate to bump an old thread but I thought it would be nice to keep our info. current.
I'm going to go with Autopal E-Code lenses. They're cheaper and from what I've read, the cutoff is better defined over the Hella's, Rampages and IPF's. Unless anyone things otherwise. Originally, I was going to go with the IPF Conversion from Rocky Road. Does anyone have a good link for the euatoworks harness or something comprable? Rocky Road and few others want $80+ for the harness. Bulb options? ![]() |

Hellas are great, Cibies are the best on the market. Autopal, IPF, etc. are OK for situations where you KNOW you're going to smash headlamps fairly often and need cheap replacements (although frankly, I'd just buy GE Nighthawks from Amazon and upgrade the wiring with relays to boost the voltage, if I were in that situation). Nighthawks are around $20, as well-made as Cibies, and work almost as well as Hellas). My problem with IPF, Autopal, etc. is the poor quality of construction. They're most likely chinese-sourced, and you just never know if they're really made right. Does the reflector have the correct anti-UV anti-oxiadation coating? A friend of mine who is in the lighting biz bought a set of similar "kit" headlamps once and found that they had NO coating on the reflector at all. With Hella, Cibie, and even the GEs, you know what you're getting. I have GEs on my DD and they're just fine. I've got Cibies on my daughter's '99 and they're unbelievable. The most important thing is actually the heavier wiring and putting in relays so that the headlamp switch doesn't carry the heavy current. If you measure the voltage at the headlamp terminals of a stock XJ with the lamps installed and on, you'll find that you lose a couple of volts or more between the battery and the headlamp. That's what relays cure, and make even stock headlamps or simple upgrades like GE Nighthawks work amazingly well. If you do get H4 lamps, don't get "Xenon" or "Xtravision" or any of that bull*** kind of trick bulbs, or anything tinted blue. Get Osram or Narva HB2/H4 lamps, overwattage if you like (say Osram 70/65w). You won't regret it.
