Good lookin build...except for one thing, youre going to wish you never used peel and seal later on down the road. Never ever use P&S for sound deadening inside your car, youre just gonna have a mess on your hands when summer rolls around. P&S is a roofing material and is not a suitable material to use as sound deadening. P&S is tar based and will melt at a low temperature, when it gets cold (over the winter) and then gets warm again it's melting point will decrease even more which will cause it to de-adhere and fall off of your doors. Not to mention the horrible tar smell left by the P&S for months to come.
If anyone is gonna go through the trouble to sound deaden their vehicle then do it right or not at all. Only use Butyle based deadeners like second skin, e-dead, dynamat..etc. You will thank your self later on down the road and they will work 10x better than the P&S...dont forget to use a roller, if its not contacting metal then its not doin you any good. Several deadeners at 200F for 15min: ![]() Left to right: eDead v1SE˛ RAAMmat BXT Dynamat Xtreme FatMat Peel & Seal R-Blox Sound Destroyer Grace Vycor eDead v1˛ |

Im sure there's better out there...but cost-effectiveness wise I think that the P&S is fine.

An update of sorts....
Im kinda depressed because college is a month away and I know that I'm not going to reach my goal of going to URE this summer Because of this, I really got to get a move on with my other stuff. I'd like to have the D44 on my XJ before I go back...simply because I need the $$$ that the 8.25 will bring ![]() SO last night I worked on my D44...got one shaft out...but the passenger side was a pistol. Here's some pics: ![]() My lovely breaker bar ![]() ![]() Got ONE out anyway ![]() ![]() ![]() So for you gurus out there, what should I look for while I have the axle shafts out? The shafts themselves looked fine...no bent or broken splines

I'd definitely replace the bearings and seals(Autozone carries Timken), the safest and easiest way to get the shafts out, is to rent an axle puller(slide hammer with lug adapter), or if your brave, you can try what I did:

Like I said, "If your brave"
seriously, thats where both of them landed, I wouldn't try pulling it out, with a slide hammer it will take 2-3 hits and its out, it will take more time at the counter at the parts store to get it, than it will to use it. |

More Dana 44 action...
SO...
There was still one shaft left...after cutting my arm and putting a blood blister in my left hand...I cursed the axle and headed to bed. I decided to get back on it today...I hammered on it forever and then started to pull on it again. Eventually here is the system I came up with using the Hi-Lift as a come-along: ![]() ![]() After working that for a while, the belts snapped first, then I switched to rope: ![]() I gave up and threw in the towel...went to Idiotzone, they were closed. Went to Advance and got this: ![]() In my haste to get the thing out...I didn't get any pics of it set up...it's pretty simple. HOWEVER it took me like 10 swings to finally get the thing out ![]() ![]() So now that the shafts are out...I'm going to get in touch with my friend who's dad owns a machine shop and a SAND BLASTER

Yet another project...
So while I couldn't pull the overhead console out of the '99 Ltd at the JY, look what I found
:![]() ![]() A little mock up... ![]() ![]() ![]() So do you guys think that I should paint it to match my Jeep or just go with some semi-gloss black? Input needed. Also, if someone wants em badly enough I might be willing to sell em cause I need $$$ even though they are pretty cool ![]()

Hmmm... hard choice. Black could look awesome since you have other black acessories, but then again if you painted it to match and did a good job on install you could prob. make it look factory.

yea I kinda have this black green color scheme going on...so idk. I'm just afraid If I try to do green, then it won't be the real deal and you'll be able to tell it.
