sounds good then, if I may ask, what happened to your stock fog switch place?

or are these aux lights?

Here's a pic of the set-up FWIW:

My XJ was a SPORT...it didn't come with fogs. it only had two places (seen here, like this)

When I bought my Jeep, the PO had put these cheeeeeeezy Hella switches down near the TCase Bezel and I wanted to put em with stock fog rockers. So, I found a wrecked 98 Ltd at the u-pull yard and got the 3 switch holder from it as well as the fog switch and relay. Basically the switch was full of dirt and mud and had to be completely taken apart and rebuilt but I still did it anyway.

I have two pair of Hellas on my XJ.

I like to run the front separate from the tops because here in NC it's illegal (and stooopid) to run lights above your headlights IIRC. I only run my top pair when off-hwy. I didn't wanna put both on one switch or anything. This way it will look factory and still be what I want.

ah i see now... yea in NJ apparently you can't have more than 2 additional lights, pretty gay...when I get more I'll just put my top ones on a separate switch aswell.

Switch looks ok. I used toggles from the parts stores that come with a retainer that you screw in and put it in the same place. I intend to have three there eventually. One for E-fan (already in), one for air compressor, and one for other lights. FWIW, my XJ is a sport and had the factory fogs.

Sorry it's been awhile guys...I'll say this about college: A chemical engineering degree is NOT handed to people...I am putting in a lot of hours studying.

My funds are pretty low, but Im still working on the Jeep. Im currently on Fall Break and have been enjoying the wonderful weather here in NC

I took off my roofrack, it has been looking pretty sorry and I wanted to remove some of the rust spots on it. It is currently getting painted. I noticed that the ride was MUCH quieter on the interstate today...makes me wanna leave it off, but the XJ looks naked and awkward without i haha.

I am also trying to get my D44 ready. Got the differential cleaned today...it's currently drying out. The bearings look OK, I guess I'm going to have to trust em till I regear it down the road. The goal originally was to go ahead and regear it, but I dont have the $$$ or time to now so the plan has changed to just getting it under the rig ASAP. Here's what needs to happen:

-Prime it (DONE)
-Paint it black
-Clean diff out (DONE)
-Get new bearings on axleshafts
-weld up new shock mounts
-Get new hardline
-Get ZJ disc brakes
-Get everything hooked up brake-wise
-Install Lube locker and new fluid
-Throw under the rig and drive it!!!

So as you can see, I still have a lot to do to get it ready. Hopefully I can do the swap over thanksgiving break...or Christmas, who knows at this point.

My plans over the next couple of months:

-D44 swap
-New rear springs (at least if not a whole new kit)
-wire up new fog switch
-fix nagging rain/water leak in passenger side door sill
-tune up consisting of injectors/spark plugs
-change PS fluid out
-replace BOTH hubs in the front
-NEW ZJ TR in the front and alignment

Kinda basic but it's what's REALISTIC right now. Would also like to find some Leather Power/Heated seats soon. That would be really nice.

Just thought I'd give you guys an update of sorts.

I'll get some pics up tonight of some of the stuff I've done to it

Frreshly painted roofrack, although the flat black paint doesn't really look that black, it is DEFINITELY cleaner/better looking

Anybody know how much that rack is worth?

What, are you too good for the 88 cent paint?! When are you cutting the hood?

haha must be cheaper out west closer to China i thought .96 was a deal compared to Rustoleum @ 3.96 a can

As far as the hood goes, I'm not sure. I'll be honest in telling you that I do not feel comfortable in slicing the hood. I know it's not that complicated, but its kinda the same way with a SYE hack n tap...knowing my luck, I'd screw it up.

I'm prob going to call some 4wd shops around and see if they'd do it for me. If it isn't too much $$$ then its worth it. We'll have to see how much they wanna charge I guess. If not, it may have to wait till spring seeing how it's starting to colder. Regardless, I'm going to pull the hood physically off the vehicle to do it. We'll just have to see how it goes. If I pu$$y out, I may just sell the vents haha

It can be pretty intimidating to cut into a perfectly good hood. I think you should do it yourself, very carefully. You'll be glad you did when you're done. Measure ten times.

Well, we'll see. I'm assuming I would need a jigsaw with like 36 tpi to do it. mask it off and cut away. I might try it later give me some time to think about it.

Jigsaw or an angle grinder will do it. Just tape the entire area you'll be working on and mark it up with a sharpie.
