If you do, use that or get a new wheel. Then if you still have vibrations or problems with the brakes, I'd probably start looking for a new (and better) axle rather than try and repair a junk D35.
YOu must not have read the club in my sig,
I think i will start to look for a 8.8 with discs and 4.10's anyway, even if its not messed up. Ill have to go re-read the axle swap section of your book, im sure it will tell me everything i need to know

I would at least put on a new wheel and drum, and would pull out the axleshaft and install 5 new lug studs and all new nuts. I'm sure you can pick up a used axleshaft for next to nothing if your unsure if it is bent. Also, check all your other wheels for looseness, cracked lug studs now, before you loose another wheel.
I did check all the rest, I was thinking maybe i should put on longer stud, becuase my wheel are thicker than stock, what would be a good size?

Buy a torque wrench and start using it right away.

When I was in high school I had the front tire fall/fly off my Comanche twice in one night. Since then I have always carried a torque wrench in my Jeeps, and checked the torque every time I got out for days after a tire removal. It's unbelievable how loose those things get on aluminum rims after 40 or 50 miles.

I bet your axel is just fine, but a new drum and new/longer studs are a must.
Check the lug holes on your wheels. If they are chewed up you need to get them repaired or they'll work loose again.

How long of studs?
The wheels are chewed up but on the inside of the holes, not the outside were the lugs go.

You want at a minimum of 3/4" of thread sticking out of your wheel for the nut to thread onto. Measure how much thicker the new wheels are, then go down to the parts store with the old studs and match up some longer ones. Also, as stated by someone else, make sure you are using the correct lugnuts with those wheels.

Are the holes still smooth and round?

If there is too much play between the the lug and the walls of the hole, it will be that much easier for the wheel to work loose again.

I can't believe you posted this I thought WHICH ONE OF YOU DIRT BAGS SAW ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD?? Same crap happened to me Saturday night on the way home from wheeling. Well in my case it was the front tire not the rear. It's a long story but we were on the side of the road for about ......2 minutes and the cops came up and set behind us till we got the tire on so when we pulled out we had blue lights in our eyes The good thing about the cop behind us is the move over law. Most (not all) cars moved over to the other lane.. Un-nerving man!!!! I know how you feel.

as for damage, don't know, not looking till next weekend. I don't want to fool with it

as for the cause, no dought I need to check out my impact wrench.
