Good Deal Or Not

This would be strickly a trail rig.

The engine knock concerns me!!

93 XJ
Runs and drives, Auto 4x4 Hi and Lo work.
Completely stock. Brand new Alt.
It has 210000 miles and the engine has a knock.
The guy I bought it from said it had been doing that for about 15000 miles.
It starts and runs fine.
It could even be a daily beater if you want to inspect it.
$500.00

What do you guy's think? Should I be interested?

For a trail rig, why not? $500 for a running 4WD XJ is a pretty good deal.

So what if it may need an engine? I got a junkyard HO 4.0 for $250, you're still under a grand for a perfectly drivable XJ before mods.

Hard to give more than that without seeing the car. Did you actually hear this knock? Is it really a knock or just valvetrain noise or typical 4.0 piston slap?

I am going to look at it tomorrow. I havent heard the knock yet. I suppose if it was a "There's no oil in here KNOCK" that would be bad, A piston slap would be faster, I think.

I have had people, that are not familair with Jeeps, tell me to junk my 91 XJ because of all the funny noises it makes. My 91 has made all of those funny noises since the day I bought it and it starts and runs fine, it even sounds fine to me.
