Look at the plates inside the driver's side door for specific gearings or limited slip diffs.

Code Capacity Ratio
43 Open 3200 3.08
41 Open 3200 3.27
42 Open 4.10
46 Open 3.73
45 Open 3200 3.55
D4 Limited Slip 3200 3.73
D2 Limited Slip 4.10
L73 Limited Slip 3.73
L - Limited Slip Differential
C - Conventional Differential

I can't pull axles at my JY because all the vehicles rest on the axles on top of old wheels and you can't bring in jacks. Spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF will go a long way on rusted or seized bolts though.

Is there a certain one I should be looking for? Or will it not matter if I'm going to be regearing

If your looking for a limited slip then you should probably look for a limited slip. If you want 4.10 gears then you might want to look for one with 4.10's etc etc.

Maybe 3/4 tool set if it is very rusty, then you can just brake the bolts.:-)

when i first got there it i started right away since i couldnt find the 4.10 which i was told came in the eddie bauer edition i settled on a 97 ford explorer D4 3:73s ls

Since I couldnt find a Wheel barrel I had to find an alternative way to move it from where i was

Yea that was totally fun....

All in all Im satisfied with all that I have achieved today!!

I picked up an 8.8 for 79.98

and all the tools I used really did not include using a sawzal or battery powered impact gun
just pure elbow grease

anyone wanting to know the tools that I used it was a 1/2 breaker bar 3/8 set 1 can of pb blaster 3/8 ratchet and wire cutters crescent wrench and adapters for 1/2,3/8
