run it through the vaccuum line coming off of the power steering cylinder

do it until it bogs down, but doesn't die then shut it off and wait 10 minutes and you'll be good

Just be prepared for oil leaks.. and change the oil after you run it a bit.

I wouldn't run that long without changing the oil, but it's your engine. That seamfoam is going to remove a lot of the crud inside, which may be holding a lot of your gaskets together. Since the engine is older, be prepared for existing leaks to get worse, and maybe new ones to show themselves.

What about running ATF for a few miles in there (just a tad). I've heard that's less harsh on the whole "my car is held together by mud, rust and sludge on the gaskets."

well all in all there wasn't really that much smoke. It smoked enuf for someone to ask me if I had head gasket trouble but other than that it was pretty anti-climactic. I can notcice smoother running and better throttle response, easier starting so I'm happy. I'll keep my eye open for any new leaks, and i'll chang emy oil in the next couple of days just to be safe!

Mine smoked so bad it engulfed my neighbor's house. I felt bad because they have a young child.

It did make me feel good that that crap wasn't in my engine anymore

If you're gonna do an oil change, might wanna try running seafoam in your oil for a day or two. Itll remove a ton of junk in your crank case. It may expose leaks that you have had, but were junked with sludge. Some say it creates leaks, but all it does is tell you where they are.
