Gearing: Any reason to think...
...that I have a rear gearing other than 3.07? 1990 XJ with D35 with 4.0L/5-speed, so based on the fact that I never touched the rear axle/diff/gears/carrier/etc... would I have any reason to assume the PO did anything? When I was driving it I get getting 18-20 mpg with 235/75-15s Have I done my research correctly, or might my gearing be different?
Jack up the rear end, rotate the tire once, and count how many times the drive shaft spins. If its 3x, then you have 3.07s.

It should be 3.07's, but I "think" if it had the tow package, you got 3.73's.

I have a 1989 w/ 4.0 and 5 speed and I have 3.07s. You could try the driveshaft method to be sure, but I am pretty positive you have 3.07s, unfortunately.
