97 Sport, Chrysler 8.25, 4.0, auto, 2wd, aftermarket trailer hitch.

The only tag found is a small metal tag stamped "0217"

3.55 unless it came from the FACTORY with a tow package. Then it may be either 3.55 or 3.73

Get the rear tires off the ground.
Put it in neutral.
Make reference marks on a tire and the driveshaft.
Spin tire.
Count the number of revolutions the driveshaft makes for each 1 revolution of the tire.

Driveshaft spins roughly 3.5 times = 3.55 ratio

Would never have thought it was that simple. Thanks!

JEEP built XJ's could be 3.55 or 3.73. Genuine Jeep hitches were available from the Dealership, so a hitch does not equal tow package. After Chrysler bough Jeep, the 3.73 gears were no longer offered and later Chrysler built automatic transmission XJ's had 3.55 gears, tow package or not.

.

A recent Gallup public opinion poll shows the NRA, at 58% approval, has a higher approval rating than either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
