gear lube spill, smells awful!! Clean up?
I had a pretty big gear lube spill while taking the 5spd tranny out of my XJ. Does anyopne have a good way to clean it up where the smell will go away? My garage smells awful I cant take it. Beer pong is on hold until I can clean this mess up...

Large bag of "Oil-Dri" and cover the spill completely. Keep the door open for a while. Not much you can do other than let the Oil-Dri suck out the oil from the concrete. You COULD try something like Tide laundry soap and a deck brush, but that will probably push the oil into the concrete more.
Just dump a bag of oil-dri on there and leave the door open for a day or so. Should tone down after a few hours. |

ya one of the substances like oil dri or dynosorb (idk if this is still around/available to the public but my dad always brought it home for us to use when he did oil spill cleanups)
you could dry using dawn dish soap, they use it on the ducks when they get oil on them because it breaks the oil down and rinses clean, may help that out -matt |

I just use Kitty Litter, it sucks the oil right up. Can't hold beer pong off too long man, you better get that cleaned up. ![]() |

Degreaser or dish soap, pour on full strength, let sit, mop up with lots of water. Repeat as needed.

Grinding in the oil dry with help remove more of the oil. Clean with trisodium phosphate, available at the hardware store.

I use brake cleaner, just spray it on and wipe with a rag.
