Gas tank skid questions

Looking for a gas tank skid for my 99 and while browsing over on NAXJA I heard that a ZJ tank skid will bolt right up to a 97+ xj by drilling just a couple holes in the skid. Can anyone confirm this? Also this is probably a GC question but how common are tank skids on ZJs. Trying to broaden my search field because i know a 97+ tank skid might be hard to come by at the JY.

Yes i have one...the holes are just about the same..I redrilled them to allow for full use of the nut strips...they are actually more common on zj 93-98 than they were on the xj's but that pretty much gives you a 7 year span of jeeps to check... and the GC are older so they may be more oftenly found at the junkyards

well i have found that pre 97 gas tank skids are more common so i grabbed one. the holes line up perfectly you only need to trim a bit of the skid on the bumper side to get it to fit. maybe an inch of trimming.
