Either 0.8 or 1.1 Ohm will work. You old ballast resistor should be labeled.

I went with a 1.0, reason for changing is when i would sit in stop and go traffic it would run like crap like it was lean and stuff and i got out and felt it and i could barely hold my hand on it. but when the cool air would pass over it on the highway it ran fine. has anyone else had this same problem?

You probably just need a new sock. If you're going to tear into the tank though, you might as well replace the pump while you're in there.

If it is starting to hesitate when the engine is warm, take a look at your cat. See if it is rattling.

Check the terminal tabs - the resistance value should be stamped into one of them.

It wasn't on 1987XJ, and it was a voluntary recall late in the year. It was added for 1988 and later, due to Noise, Vibration, and Harmonics issues.

I've had two quit - I just make a jumper out of 10AWG wire, put it in, and call it good. It's a Jeep - it's supposed to make noise!

I by-passed the one on my 92 with no problems. I don't notice any extra noise. JIM.

mine makes a loud high pitched electric buzz that can be heard over the engine running while sitting in the drivers seat. I also have trouble with it when it heats up....Is it going out? The jeep has been sitting in on spot uncranked for at least two years.
