Fuel Injection system issues
1998 Cherokee 4.0 Auto
Ok so I posted this in NAXJA forums but I have to work in the morning and need quick and a variety of answers so dont flame me too much.
My engine was kicking pretty bad and a friend suggested it might be a bad fuel injector. So we pulled off the connection from number one and nothing happened. Thought we got lucky with the first one. So I tested it with the NOID light and it was blinking. Sweet injector it is right? Swapped the injectors today and hooked everything back up. It was bucking worse than before.
Started running P0201 and 203 code. Basically the wires connecting the injectors to the PCM is either shorted or not connected. I cleared the codes and these two were the only ones that kept popping back up. Instantly.
I started testing the connections. First I tested the connection between the positive and negative wires on the fuel injector connector. Came back less than a volt but kept bouncing. Next I checked the positive wire in the connector and hit the air intake manifold on the negative. Was getting 12 to 13 volts. Finally I hit the positive wire to the PCM itself to see if it was grounded and got pretty much the same as I did when I tested the FI wires together.
Any suggestions would be great because this thing is getting no power. I can tell I'm running off 4 cylinders but sucking the gas of a 6er out of tune. Thanks folks
