Front end vibration

This is my first jeep. It is 89 Cherokee. At about 50 mph. the front end feels like it is going to come out from under it. It will start slow then it gets REAL BAD. It don't do it all the time just above 50. I have checked everything under it and the only thing I can find wrong is the inner tie rod has just a little slack in it. I have a new one ordered and will put it on tommorow. Just trying to see if there could be anything I am missing.

Welcome to JF.

I had a vibe at about the same speed that turned out to be the passenger side u-joint. Check both joints in the front and make sure there is no slop.

Where you located in WV?

Tires high speed balanced? That is where I would start.

Good luck.

located in lewisburg. i don't think it is a tire problem. both the u-joints feel tight but i'll check them again. i did notice theres a little sleeve that goes around the axle that might have slipped out of the housing. could that cause the shaking?
