Front end noise
I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0 engine and 4 wheel drive. My problem is that when I make slow turns around corners I hear a slight thumping noise. I pulled the drivers side wheel off and I can see a little play in the drive shaft. Could that be the problem?

I have a '93 Cherokee sport 2WD and had a problem with front end noises. It made a "snapping" and "thumping" type of noise sometimes when I turned the wheel and accellorated. Also, when I backed up and turned the wheel. After replacing several front end parts that were not the problem, I found that the wheel hub bearing was bad. I replaced it and the noise went away. Even though my cherokee is 2WD it has 4WD wheel hub bearings. Hope this helps.

Check your upper shock mounts as well.
