ez locker,aussie locker, powertrax

What is the difference between all of these? they all seem to do the same thing. How would they be for driving in snow and ice?

Automatic lockers can cause the rear end to break loose more easily in the snow and ice.

The EZ Locker, Lock-Right, and Aussie are all very similar. The Powertrax NoSlip is much the same, just a bit quieter than the others.

Driven in a responsible manner, locked XJ's handle fine in snow and ice. The extra traction is nice to have. A Locker or Limited Slip can cause the rear to fish-tail so you have to pay more attention to your driving.

QFT.

In 2wd the rear can get a bit squirrelly with the autolocker out back, but throw it in 4wd and your tires turn to glue.

These are all considered traction devices, so the reality is they aid with traction on slippery/loose surfaces by giving power to both wheels. It is different than driving with an open diff, and You will learn how to drive with them in different conditions.
