Hi everyone,
I have a 1994 cherokee sport 4.0
Im planning on putting 2.5 inch piping and taking my cat off, but im leaving my stock muffler. how will this sound? is it worth it or should i buy another muffler right away?
Thanks,

don't take the cat off, at least not if you ever want to drive on the road again - just get a high-flow cat.
and the stock muffler sounds terrible, get a flowmaster!

This is mine: 95XJ with magnaflow cat, flowmaster super 40, and custom mandrel bent 2.5 tailpipe

Delta 40 isn't as nice as the super 40 IMO.

As far as the CAT, do you live in the USA? if so it's illegal.
You will gain little to nothing by removing the CAT.
Also, by removing the CAT, you lose the exhaust backpressure that your engine likes to run correctly. Also, it will smell terrible when moving slow.

You need 2.25IN Center, 2.25OUT Offset for stock piping.

I kept my stock 2.25" downpipe, have a 2.25" I/O CAT, 2.25" I/O Muffler, swedged the end of the 2.5" tailpipe to fit OVER the outside of the muffler outlet port for better flow.

Here is the main differences between their series:
Delta 40 - More compact, aluminized, low interior resonance, aggressive exterior sound
Super 40 - Bigger than Delta and 44, Black, Medium interior resonance, aggressive exterior sound
Super 44 - Black, high interior resonance, aggressive exterior sound

Here is my red one and I rev it to about 3k rpm in the video.

I had an APN header, full 2.5" exhaust and borla muffler

I SWEAR I am not lying but I just took off the mufflre and straight piped it with a 2" 1/4 resonator pipe to take up the difference of the muffler. It sounds identical with the first video. I also run a header though. Also, it's a H.O Head

The only way you're going to get a full 2.5" piping is to replace the exhaust header and downpipe. I'm not sure how much that would cost but unless your header is cracked and your downpipe is rusted out it's not worth it. I would just run the stock piping until it gets below the truck, then neck up with an adapter to 2.5". If you do that before the muffler, get the 2.5IN Center / 2.5OUT Offset. If you do it after get the 2.25I/O

Here's my plan: im not putting the cat back on. and then i'll do like you said the 2.5 piping after the downpipe.
I'll get the flowmaster super 40. no the only thing is ordering and waiting untill it gets here. which can take a while. anything else i would be needing? then i can order everything at once.

Well my '01 has a 2.5" down pipe and necked down right after the cat. So I removed the cat, welded in a 2.5" stainless I pipe into a 2.5" magnaflow muffler and a mandrel bent 2.5" stainless tailpipe. IMO it sounds good below 3k rpms but gets poppy above that. And its a little loud for a DD, but I can always make it quieter, but I'm not too concerned with it right now, right now I need more lights

you have 2 options if you keep the stock downpipe:

1) where the CAT would attach to the downpipe, put an adapter to go from 2.25 to 2.5, and run 2.5 piping from that point back - in this case buy a 2.5IN Center / 2.5OUT Offset muffler.

2) keep 2.25" piping until you get to the muffler, get a 2.25IN / OUT muffler, then attach a 2.5 tailpipe (this is what I did to make things easier and because my CAT was 2.25In/Out).
