This is the second time this has happned to me. I tried searching for an hour and came up with nothing. I drove my cherokee 1990 2 dr for about 50km and i parked in a gas station to go buy something and i came out and my coolant bottle overflows and it poors out coolant everywhere! Whats going on?

Coolant bottles are prone to cracking. And they warp so that the cap fails to seal completely. And the cap gaskets leak. Or you could have a more serious problem. There is a pressure relief valve in the cap, so it could have been a genuine overheat condition. But I would start by checking the bottle and cap for crack/leaks.

Heres a link for a suggested idea to getting rid of that tank. You can see my pic's and see my solution.

Yes, the cap should go on fairly tight. But not too tight or the gasket will spread. Sounds like it's time for a new cap and bottle. I just had the same problem on my '88. A new cap/bottle solved the problem. I am now on bottle #4 since new. The first two cracked.
You can find the cap/bottle online for as little as $20 US. Check www.rockauto.com or Ebay.
