Engine from 01 Grand work in 00 Cherokee?

I bought an engine from a 2001 Grand cherokee thinking they were the same. The oil filter is in a slightly different location, and there is no place for the oil pressure sending unit. Is there an adapter I need to buy or is it just a different block? Thanks

Little different scenario but basically the same type of thing. I just got done taking a 4.0 from an 87 XJ and put it in a 94 XJ. I had to take pretty much everything off the 94 block and put on the 87 but it seems to be working fine so far.
