WOW.
It's fascinating just watching this become a serious debate. Some people have way too much time on their hands. ![]()

this seems to be a dead thread but i found it very intresting and just had to comment.
personaly i think this is a very solid consept to a build a 5psi booster but cant forsee it ever being practical enough to replace a mechanical system. stop debateing the load demand your car can support a much heaveir load demand then what is needed to make a system like this ((want an example turn your ac on high your now supporting not 1 but 2 elcetrical motors the ac fan and the blowermotor in your dash and also powering an electrical clutch in the ac compressor not only can your motor still turn the alternater it can still turn the ac compressor and amzingly able to drive down the highway)) compareing this system to the starter is competly unfounded the torque and wattage demand to turn a mechanical motor is just a little bit more then whats needed to turn a 3 inch fan..... 2 major flaws i see instintly when looking at these designs made so far first off the fan it self i think would need to be a squarl cage design this would point the vacum towards the airfilter and mush less tornado effect towards the intake also this would be alot less air restriction when the system is off.. second i think would be better off useing a pully system to met torque demands instead of wattage yes i realize this would reduce rpm to met torq demands but i really dont see that as a problem when we have brushless motors that can run at 25,000 rpm.. think about it if we can take a 15 pound rc car with a 6v battery and drive it at speeds over 50mph then why do so many act like the consept of useing a 12v battery to turn a fan to make 5psi at 500+cfm is impossable |

my friend had a bmw 325 and he hooked up an electric leaf blower to his intake and you could really feel the difference in the seat of your pants and his quarter mile time improved significantly.

That's not a typographical error. No one accidentally types squarl. I don't know if you don't speak English as a first language, or have some sort of lolcats disability, or what, but it's freaking hard to read that post. Just sayin'.

your more focused on expressing your thoughts and opinions then you are about some numbnuts nitpicken an error or two. as for you haveing troubles reading my posts all i can say is lrn2read. i would also sugest looking into a term called "ON-TOPIC POSTING" as much fun as this was im done addressing this with you. i came to this topic to learn, debate, discuss, and even laugh at concepts of electric superchargers. |
