Electric fan override switch
Ok, i made a thread about this a LONG time ago but i cant find it and i never got around to doing it.
I know i could just put it on the switch but i would forget to turn it on. So i want it to come on like normal AND have a switch so i can leave it on when the engine is off. I know there was a place making a harness with the relay and everything for this. i cant remember the name though. I think they might have went out of bussiness anyways. Anyone know anywhere that sells a kit or anything?
If not then does anyone have a wiring diagram or some instructions on how to make my own. Im not wiring expert but i might be willing to give it a shot if i cant get a premade one...

The cooling fan draws at least 40 amps, If you let it run when the engine is off it will kill the battery in no time if you don't go back and turn it off. Hood vent might be a better idea. my.2

run a lead from the + terminal to a fuse, switch in the cab, splice to the power lead on the fan, ground the other (don't think you actually need to since it is factory grounded). i've done this and it works great. fan still comes on for overheats, and i can have it on full time for 4 wheeling.

Just buy a cheap off-delay timer relay on ebay, and stick it in the control for the fan relay?

Have just done this one last week. I was told to wire in a swiched earth to the fan relay. The PCM sends an earth to the relay to start the fan you are just doing the same thing. Check the pins on the relay with a test bulb to rule out the positve pins. A simple test wire from the earth battery terminal will tell you that you have got the right one. My relay was in the fuse box on the right hand inner wing. If I pull the relay out whilst leaning over the wing I believe it was the terminal at the 9 oclock position. If you want to make a neat job unclip the fuse box so you can see the wires underneath the relay and connect to the relavant wire. Find a nice earth run the two wires to the dash and connect using a flick swich. My one goes off with the ignition so no chance of leaving it on. Its great when towing and you want having an extra blast when a steep hill comes up.

ill be trying the project xj.com write up tomarrow. I have to wire a bunch of crap too.
lockers, pump, offroad lights, back up lights, and fan. That still leaves me with one open spot on my panel. I need to find something else to wire into it...
