do I need to modify my exhaust when installing longer shackles?

I was looking at my stock shackles and it looks like longer shackles might hit the exhaust, does anyone know if modification of the exhaust is neccessary for longer shackles?

I torched mine to be orange red hot and used a pipe to straighten it out to clear a nice 1-1 1/2" gap.

I almost had to. I have Daystar shackles. With 2.5" pipe I would have had to.

I cut about 8" off mine, then added an angled tip to keep exhaust gases off my shackles.

I have the RE 1.75" extended shackles and it's close to my shackle, but haven't had problems yet. Depends on the brand of shackle.

I have daystars, with the stock exhaust I had to cut the tip off, I just put on Rustys Flowmaster cat back w/ 2.5in tail pipe and it fits fine.

My teraflex shackles slightly rubbed, (on new 2.5" exhaust) so I heated it and just pulled it over 1/4". no more noise. Good Luck
