Do I have the np231 Transfer Case?

I have a '98 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4.0L 6cylinder Automatic Transmission. I've been saving up for the 6.5" Rough Country X-Series Lift kit. They recommend the SYE and rear ext driveshaft. To get that they say you NEED to have the np231 transfer case. Can someone let me know that transfer case is already on my XJ model? Thank you

Crawl under and look at the ID tag on the T-case or look at your 4x4 shifter bezel.

NP 231 has no FULL-TIME position.
NP 242 has FULL-TIME position

..and they are full of crap with the above statement. One can get a hack 'n tap SYE for the 242 (full time case), and use a double cardan joint rear DS.

But you have the 231 which has way more aftermarket support and you can get a true HD SYE kit for it. 231 is also slightly stronger than 242
