Do I Have a K&N Filter?? (Pics)

Just curious,

I've had my XJ for a bit now, but remember at first being a little intimidated when I saw the K&N sticker on my airbox lid. It looks the same as any other filter, or even the one on my YJ. I always thought K&N's were the cone type.

Basically I wanted to know, if it is a K&N, can I replace it with just a regular filter? If not, I'll just follow the cleaning instructions on the sticker. As you can tell, there's some oil stains on the filter too.

Thanks for any help

Yeah that is definitely not a K&N filter just replace it with any panel filter of your choice.

X2, that sticker comes with K&N filters so you mechanic doesn't accidently throw it out. The Previous owner probably put a K&N in it, removed it and went back to paper before selling it, and did not remove the sticker.

Not all K&Ns are cones but they are all cotton/gauze backed with metal mesh, they are also usually red in color (from dye in the oil).

I have a K&N drop in filter in my stock air box, its your typical K&N red/purple color. And has K&N stamped into it on nearly every corner. The one you have posted is the standard paper filter. Toss it and replace it.
