Distributor whine noise

I have a loud whining noise pinpointed to the distributor with a stethoscope.

Was going to pick one up off rockauto, what is a better brand? World Power Systems, Autoline or A-1 Cardone?

Or is there some easily serviceable bearing inside the distributor I can swap out?

On the same note, brass terminals are well worth the extra $ for the cap and rotor right?

I had a similar problem at about 73,000 miles. I started hearing what sounded like bearing noise coming from the AC compressor. Using a stethoscope I determined that the noise was actually coming from the distributor which sits below and behind the compressor. Since the distributor shaft showed very little side-to-side play, I decided to replace the distributor cap and rotor first, hoping that would solve the problem. The noise went away and stayed away (for the last five years anyway).

This may not solve your problem but it’s worth a try.
