difference between 98 and 2000xj???
i found the 2000xj factory service manual, and was wondering how much my 1998 will differ from the 2000 jeep for which the manual was written. i am planning on replacing the exhaust manifold soon, and was hoping to use the fsm as a guide.

for stuff like that, it's probably close enough to work. Specifically relating to the work you'll be doing, the '00 uses a different shaped intake manifold and a different style exhaust manifold (has 2 mini-cats). But, the basics are still the same as they were back in' 87 when the 4.0L first came out.

well I have a 98, and when I was looking for a FSM, I found that I could only find one for a 93, or a 00, and having already been in possesion of the 93 FSM (had a 93 before the 98) just decided they didnt change anything enough to warrent a FSM update between the years.

i know the 2001 has that distributorless setup, and i am pretty sure the 2000 does too. you will notice it over the plugs its like a distributor rail.
