detent or throttle valve control cable

Trying to change one on a 1992 grand cherokee Laredo, inline six and I beleive the motor is a 5.7 liter.
the top part is easy but cant figure out how to disconnect the side that hooks into the transmission. If anyone has done this , can you tell me if the cable is behind the small register right below where it goes in? I took the small bolt out at the end of the cable and now need to free the cable part.
Lastly thanks for the forum and hope to be back on here, my name is Tom.
