Deck Plate install (PICS)

I finally installed my Beckson deck plate on my hood. It really allows the heat to come out when open. I am still going to add some screen under it so sand does not get in too much on windy beach days. Let me know what you think.

I may end up making this into a home made removable snorkle, we'll see.

looks sweet, the snorkel part might be an issuie due to limited space. Itd be hard to run the ducting to the location you have the plate. Awesome job though, let me know if you figure out a way to do it

Very nice, I'd be cautious about removing it with bare hands after a 4 hour drive though

Yeah, probably not a good idea after a long drive.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

I've been kicking around something like this, just haven't gotten all the materials together. From what I gather, a intake tube from a 87-88 mustang airbox will work to connect to the hood opening. They are made of high temp ABS and they have a slight angle on the mount. It sits about flat enough that it will clear the valve cover as well.

If not, some heat wrap will help keep the heat away, or route the intake hose around teh back of the head under the MAP.

I am looking at house roof vents to use as a snorkle. The topper style with a bonnet top. Should allow enough air in.

Something like:

Trailer vents:

Or smaller versions of the house vents;

Or smaller square unit:

I do like the first one, the house vent. What is the diameter of the Mustang hose?

Also, are thinking of mounting the vent directly to the hood or running an extension pipe up and mounting it on top of that?

I planned on running the mustang air tube tword the rear of the valve cover and running some high temp ABS duct from JCWhitney to the back of the stock air box.

Then plug the front of teh air box with a plate.

I want to say the stang intake is 3". I'll have to look when I get the chance.

I want it as far back on the hood as possible. That may mean cutting a hole through the support. I want it offset of center tword the pass side. The house vents come in various shapes and sizes. You just have to hit the vent section of your local home improvement store.
