246K mile 1999 XJ 6.5" lift, stock rear shaft with shims. This will be a SYE/Tom Woods eventually.
When I let off the gas I get a growl. It sounds like an A-10 firing it's cannon.
I can feel it slightly in the steering wheel, not at all through the seat suggesting a front end issue. It does not do it every time.
It will do it decelerating from any speed over 25mph.
If I turn my wheels mid growl it does not effect the sound.
Three point turns do not elicit any ticking or popping
With my hand on the T case handle, I do not feel a pronounced vibe through the handle when it happens.
Stuff I've fixed so far.
•*New rear U joints
•*New front U joints on a newer driveshaft
•*Fixed exhaust hangers.
•*Tcase fluids. (they were BLACK)
Trouble shooting employed so far:
•*Jacked up both ends of the Jeep and spun the wheels.
No noticeable noise present in either diff
•*No leaks at pinions
•*No hand-play on either pinion
Up next today:
Diff fluid changes and examine wheel hubs
