dana 30 aussie locker or soft locker?
i want to lock my dana 30 and am not sure if i should go for an aussie locker, soft locker, or full locker. i have to buy a new case as well as a locker so i was leaning towards a full locker. I was thinknig about doing chromo axle shafts at the same time. anyone know of a good low priced full locker or place to buy a locker?

After having a full detroit locker, I dont ever want one again. It took almost a 1/4 pinion turn for it to engage often giving a good jolt to jeep. If I were to do a full case locker again, it would be a selectable one such as arb air, eaton e-locker, or ox locker.

I've got an Aussie, and I'd buy one again. Looking to lock my 8.25 this summer.

Have an Aussie in my 30. Would not reccomend it for a DD in the snow, but all other situations it is great. A locked front is a great mod.

Locking the front end is my next mod. I saw I can get a brand new aussie locker for 239.00 from thier website. I went to 4 wheel parts local store and the techs there were badmouthing all the lunchbox locker saying they are cheap and break. I have a trutrac in the rear and dont go rock crawling, just trailriding and no snow. Has anybody had any problems with thier aussie?

I have an Aussie in my 29 spline 8.25 and wheel the living crap out of it. I am on 31" TrXus and I wheel so hard I bent a RE 4.5" leaf pack....but the locker is still holding strong. My experience with 4 wheel parts techs have not been good. My 15 year old nephew seems to know more about wheeling then they do.

The only thing I use them for is tires...because of their lifetime warranty.
My experience in talking with the techs is only when I went there for tires...so it is limited, although I have heard similar stories from other people. I also knew a guy who worked for them and he just flat out says that they all suck....lol

Would an aussie locker be a good choice for a rig thats usually a DD? if not, recommendations?

I think I would want a detroit tru-track for a DD if I lived where it snows a lot. Full lockers are not fun in the snow. The tru-track comes in two bias ratios. One they market as a front locker and the other they market for rear. I think the front one has the lower bias ratio. I would go with that. I setup a rear D44 for a guy in Denver with a tru-trac. He's had that for a year in Denver and he likes it so it must be OK in snow since we get a good bit of snow here in CO. He also put a tru-track in his front axle and he has not complained about that either.
