cutting required for tow hooks on a 97 stock bumper?
This is probably too simple a question but I want to get a handle on what I need to anticipate in adding these.
I have a 97 sport and need to start adding my recovery points. Will I need to cut much of the plastic away to add my tow hooks? There are some cut out's directly beneath the bemper extensions, but don't know if those will accomodate the hooks.
Thanks for the feedback.

my 2000 already has the cutouts for the existing fog lights (obviously) plus holes where the factory tow hooks would be. so factory at least should go right in.. not sure about others.
there are a lot of pics floating around the forum of folks who have cut holes for tow hooks when their jeep didnt have factory ones or put heavier ones on instead.. im sure someone will post some ideas.

You don't have to cut anything, but some people cut off the bottom piece of where the pre-existing tow hook holes are. Not sure why, maybe if they mount them upside down they do that?

if the knock outs in the air dam aren't already, uh, knocked out, you'll need to cut them out.

Thanks for adding the pic Jeepin.
Do you need to take the bumper off entirely or can you support the bumper with jack stands and do one at a time to make the job less involved?

i suppose in theory you could do one side at a time, but i think it would save time an effort by pulling the whole thing, bolting up the parts, and reinstalling, rather than lying upside down and finagling bolts and nuts up under the bumper.

you need to pull the bumper off to do the install. Both bumper brackets have to be unbolted from the body/frame anyway, so might as well do them at the same time and pull the bumper off and clear up that work space.
