Currie Tie Rod Up Grade...Yes or No???

Three Part Question:

1. I was going to upgrade my stock Tie Rod System to the one that Currie makes. I am gearing my jeep towards flat out speed and launching it maybe here or there. Is this a good product or is there equal with less of a price tag out there???
2. I need a longer drop pitman arm to level things out a bit better so if I got the Currie upgrade would I still need the pitman arm or would I be able to get a better angle because this product is a little longer when adjusted over the stock ones...
3. Any cheap suggestions to a drop pitman arm for a 3 and a bit lift that can stand some good abuse???

Do you think there is some thing up with the front end that is causing my front wheels to be so far off center???

Give us some specs on your rig so we can help. please clarify off center side to side would be track bar. Front to back in wheel wells is the control arms. Toe in-toe out would be tie bar. Steering wheel off center could be drag link, track bar or combo of both. Thanks to stock inverted y steering linkage any lift or Suspension travel changes the toe settings.

Why is that? If you lift your jeep and dont have money to upgrade the steering then isnt it a cost effective way to lessen the drag link angle?

Here is what it looks like in the front. Everyone says that I should undo the track bar shake the jeep to get the wheels to center and then re-attach. But the track bar is as far out as is safe to extend.

Hard to tell but it looks like your axle isnt centered under your jeep. You need to adjust the track bar out to get it centered.

It is out as far as I can go without it becoming sketchy.

Then get a longer adjustable track bar.

It will lessen the angle of the drag link but it is not worth the problems it can cause (bumpsteer) as well as added stress to the steering box bolts / frame.

You can easily run around 6" of lift without the use of a DPA. Higher than that you should look into a high-steer setup in which case you still don't need a DPA. The only time I'd say a DPA is okay is if you are 6" or more and want to keep the stock steering (or Currie, which you asked about and is a good upgrade to stock) AND if you only use a ZJ pitman arm which is only about an inch of drop on an XJ.

What if you have a bumper that reinforces the steering box and you're doing an axle swap so you can position the trac bar bracket where ever you want? Is it ok to use a drop pitman arm then?

I'm gonna replace my rustys trac bar with the TnT customs one. but they won't be back till april 9th.

I keep breaking the trac bar ends on the frame mount. plus I've stuffed it into the oil pan from jumping the thing.

One thing no one has said yet is a steering upgrade will not get the axle centered either will a drop pitman arm your track bar is to short. I have a Rusty's TB it was great at first but now the soft rubber bushings are kina mushy and may be causing DW so now I will be getting a RE track bar and giving it a try. As Eric said we are hearing good things about the TNT track bar as well. Do not skimp on your Track bar get a good one. You will thank us later.

I know this may sound bad but who is RE and is it custom made or do they come at certain sizes depending on your lift??? Do you have a link to the company so I can take a peak??? I plan on running my baby hard like my last 3 Cherokees. I'm ready to sell every thing I have to make sure not to skimp on any part of this build. Most likely if it is stock it will be replaced!!!

How does the saying go: "Stab it and Steer!!!"
