Cup Holder Installation

I recently bought a cup holder for my 90 XJ. I was wondering if anyone has installed one yet. I have power mirrors and want to know how hard it is to transfer the switch to the cup holder.

Sure is nice not to see a vibe, 0331, no start, rod knock, death wobble thread.
I wish I could help but this was just a refreshing read.

I have one of these but haven't relocated the switch as I can't decide whether to keep it or not!

Its much more difficult to operate the handbrake and it rattles/vibrates

The switch simply snaps into the hole in the console. *GENTLY* pry it out. Disconnect and place switch into the cupholder. Reconnect and secure with the 2 screws.

You should adjust your parking brake assuming you use it at all. If you jerk the brake up too hard, you'll snap the cupholder off. You need to ensure it tightens up before hitting the cupholder.

I have the kind you can hang from the window seal, small and large ones. I have them mounted on the right side of the console. You can lift up the plastic around the shifter and hook it on there so they are hanging off the side in front of the passenger seat. You can also cut off the hook and use self tapping screws to hold them. I've done it both ways.

(style B)
I concur
My Jeep came with "style b", but it doesn't stay locked in place, and anyone with a bag or purse will inevitably knock it off.
So, I got the "style a" one and soon learned ITS downsides (only holds small cans, and good luck using the parking brake).
The screws holding it in eventually stripped loose, so it sits in storage for now.
Just need to decide how best to secure the original one yet still allow for removal when required.

I will hold a 12oz beer coke easily, And 20oz bottles can be stuck in there even tho they do not "fit"

My style B needs some work again....after pulling the carpet even setting a can in it would cause it to fall off, so it got a couple screws into the console for now.
