Crank Position Sensor
Gentlemen
I have had the Crank position sensor replaced in my 1989 Cherokee 3 times in the last two years. Is there any way of bypassing this system. Thanks in advance for your help.

No, to put it simply.
The CPS is fundamental to the ignition timing. You could re-engineer things to use an older type distributor to do the job instead, but that would require fundamantal changes to the engine control system. |

CPS sensor
How do you know when your CPS has gone. My 89 Cherokee is hard to start and other folks have told me that this may be the problem. Does it just not run at all or what are the signs it is failing?
Thanks |

I had a look for it last night and it sure looks awkward to get at. Any advice on how to go about it?
thanks |

I know that there was an upgraded cps for my 93. Mine has gone once so far and the upgrade has lasted 4 years now. Believe it or not, my jeep dealer was'nt the one who told me about the upgrade. It was a mechanic from pep boys....
