Cost of lift?

How much would a 3-4" lift and 31"s cost for a Cherokee? Like total costs of everything, including brake lines and all that junk.

lifts can vary depending on what you want it for for a 3" lift you could spend as little as $105 or several hundred, got my 31x11.50's for $90/tire from tirerack with $15 shipping/tire, got them mounted at walmart was only $3.50/tire

I'm piecing together my lift with the JCwhitney/Rough country lift ($105),wrangler YJ front shocks $25 set, trackbar drop bracket ($30), some grand cherokee rear shocks (~$26), YJ rear brakeline (~$15), and some dakota leaf packs (~$50)
so my lift will end up costing around $250 (~ means that haven't bought them yet)

Cost of Lift

I am in the process of lifting my XJ (that's my lift mentioned above).

The basic 3" lift kit was $362 with free shipping. I reckon that's not a bad deal considering it includes shocks. Ok, it has AAL's but I'm prepared to live with that. New Leaf Packs would've run up another $150 or so. Yes I could've used shackles and blocks, but the XJ is 12 years old and the rear springs need a boost.

I bought the adjustable track bar only because I can afford it and I don't really want to drill holes in the stock bracket - we'll see how I feel about it on Saturday!

The total was $477.85 which is over $100 less than some competitive products.

What I got:
4 Heavy Duty Shocks
2 3" Coil Springs
2 Lower Control Arms with Urethane bushings
2 Full Length AAL's
1 Adjustable Track Bar

What I didn't get:
Brake Line Extensions
New U-Bolts
Sway Bar Disco's

Tires are a different issue. I've seen 31x10.50's for as low as $85 (BFG Long Trails). I run them in 225/70 at present and they are only a pavement tire with crappy wet/snow traction after only 15,000 miles.

My budget at the moment says that I will spend upward of $100-120 per tire for AT's depending when/where I buy them (hoping for a sale at the right time).

5 tires are going to set me back $600 odd bucks plus fitting etc etc.

Total cost of the lift will run out to about a grand by the time I'm done.

So, biggest cost will be your tires. The lift itself can be relatively cheap in comparison depending on what you decide to do.

Hope all this helps you!

The brake line swap,
http://www.madxj.com/
you can also just straighten them as somewhat shown here(look at the faded line) http://students.etsu.edu/zscs7/images/spring.JPG

dakota/S10/etc leaves
http://www.cheapxj.com/dakota.html

The shocks are somewhat of a pain to swap the bar pins from the XJ's shock to the YJ shocks, but can be done on a standard table vice

My lift plus tires total'd $828.

$317 for the lift kit, Its a Rustys 3" that came with Springs, Long AAL's, Shocks, and a rear brakeline extension bracket, the Lift cost $245, Plus $60 shipping, Plus I bought a $13 transfer case drop that I ended up not using. Oh, and figure on renting spring compressors, should only be $10.

$511 for four 31x10.5x15's mounted and balanced

I am VERY happy with the result!

Here is a pic of max flex in the rear that I took today with my 31's...

Yes its touching the flare, and it made some ugly sounds when I backed out after this pic.... (rear swarbar has been removed)

Just butting in with an observation -

This pic is a good example for tire fitment. Every time someone asks about fitting a 31" tire (and they will always include "without trimming"), I always say at least 3" of lift and keep the 31's on stock wheels. If they were sticking out any further you'd start tearing stuff off.

Nice flex and nice looking jeep Dacaur.
