coolant temp. sensor?

Well in the process of trying to get my newly installed stroker running properly, my installer tested all the sensors with the Renix sensor diagnostic page that I was told to use. Anyway, he contacted me today and said the knock sensor needed to be replaced and the coolant temp sensor. However, he said there are like 3 sensors that are related to the coolant temperature sensor. One I think is in the thermostat housing (I bought this one new when I converted to an open cooling system) then he said their is another I think in or near the radiatior and the third is near the ECU. He said the one by the ECU is the one I need, but without having the Jeep right by me, does anyone know what part # this is or exactly what I should be looking for?

i know on HO xj's the one in the thermostat housing is the sensor that goes to the ecu.

and there is one near the back of the block right next to the valvecover that's the temp sending unit, it just activates your guage.

and how long does it take to get a stroker running properly, didn't this thing go in about 6 months ago?

On my renix, i have 2 coolant temp sensors. One for the gauge at the back of the head, (which isnt what youre mechanic is talking about, and the other one is larger, and is on the drivers side of the engine block under the intake manifold. This is the one for the ECU. I used Autozone's GP Sorenson part number TSU 116

Hope this helps.

it went in about 2 months ago, but the issue is that I decided to upgrade to the 99+ intake setup which required a lot of different stuff. I should've just done the straight swap and then upgraded the intake later. then we found the fuel wasn't atomizing so had to set the fuel pressure correctly (currently 49 psi using Hesco's adj. FPR and fiveomotorsports 24 lb. injectors). after that we had issues with the fuel pressure fluctuating at idle so had to replace the fuel pump and affiliating parts. it was still running a little off after that, so now we are in the process of having to check each individual sensor and see if any of them are bad, which turned out the be the knock sensor and coolant temp sensor. hopefully I will see a difference once these get swapped out
