Clicking sound by front axle

i have 2001 jeep cherokee sport with a 3 inch lift. recently i have noticed a strange clicking/clunking noise coming from my wheel/axle area when i take my foot off the pedal and coast from speeds around 15 to 35. I initially thought it was my sway bars, because they dont have bushings and they were loose. but i tightened them and the noise is still happening. Could it be my front axle u joints? wheel bearing/s? (pS. i took out my front driveshaft). I plan on inspecting my jeep tomorrow so any info on what i should be looking out for would be helpful

Sounds like a bad axle u-joint. You can sometimes feel it in the steering wheel when making shape turns at low speeds.
When you inspect the front end, jack it up, turn the steering wheel to one side and then, one wheel at a time, rotate the wheel by hand, watching, listening and feeling for noise and looseness. Could also be a brake noise, which should be obvious when doing the above check.

I agree with Lazyxj. I had to listen to see which side it was coming from and I had my buddy to steer the wheel without the brake caliper attached and tracked down if it was the ball joint or u-joint. The u-joint was making clicking and clunking sound, so had that replaced. Problem solved.
