Cleaning the Engine?
What is the best way of cleaning your engine compartment withou doing any harm to it. There is a lot of dirt and mud over everything. Can i just hose it down at the car wash with the engine cleaner choice? Or should i be a bit more carful and do it myself at home?

If water hits the Throttle Position Sensor, it will most likely kill it, and the trans will stay in first gear.

thats funny........and so wrong lol.......clean it how you want, dont use to much pressure or any harsh chemicals, if **** does get wet (ie alt etc) keep the truck running for awhile, so the heat will dry it out i ususally clean my motor with them running, get them warm start spraying your cleaner, then hose off, never had any problems |

Not that wrong. Some people have posted that using high pressure when washing the engine killed one or more of the sensors.
The best way to clean under the hood is to spray some Simple Green cleaner on a warm ( not hot ) motor and use the hose to wash off the dirt and grease. Allow the water to run out of the hose, never squirt, spray or use high pressure and everything will be clean and happy.

well yeah if you pressure wash it you'll mess stuff up, but you dont need to pressure wash it, just get a good cleaner and do a few light washes
hell when it starts raining again my hoods coming off for awhile, and i'ma steam clean it while driving, the BEST way i've found, may be illegal in some places but my nissan had the cleanest engine bay in town |

Thanks. And how can you debunk something that I have done? I barely got it wet with a garden hose and killed it. |

I power wash mine at the car wash all the time. Spray some of their engine cleaner on it, was the rest, and come back and hit it with rinse. Granted I usually give it about 2-3 ft between the nozzle and the engine, but I've never had one problem. Now I just need to figure out how to get the mud stains off of all the rubber on my jeep?

something else must have been wrong with yours, maybe the seal on the sensor was bad, idk, but mine survived, as would most if they are in good condition |
