A guy I distantly know did this on his MJ. Nice setup, can't remember the exact HP/ tq. figures he got from the engine after some mods, but it sure as hell gave more power than the 4.0 - those Merc engines are great powerplants

The Mercedes 617 engine is bullet proof, 140 HP 180FP of torque. With some modifications to the injection pump and a 3" exhaust, 180 HP and 200FP torque. Mercedes 4x4 makes and adapter for the Jeep transmission and I am trying to come up with a motor mount system. 25 - 30 MPG is realisic.

Very nice! You going AW4 or AX15?

Why keep the mechanical fan instead of 3 smaller electric?

The AX-15 transmission will be used. I always prefer a mechanical fan to an electric if space allows. The engine and radiator are designed for a engine fan which pulls more air then an electric fan.
