can a zj tow hitch go on a 90 xj?

I would like to know if I can put a tow hitch off of a zj onto my 1990 xj?


1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 Renix with Selec-Trac
All Org and stock....
Lots of Factory Chrome... I might be alone on this one....

I would expect it to bolt right on.
It may depend on brand/ style
If you had a pic I could compare it to mine

depends on manufacturer- factory - not with out modifications-

A ZJ Grand Cherokee gas tank skid or a tow hitch will fit on an XJ Cherokee if you open up/oval one bolt hole on each side. The rest of the bolt holes match up.

Not going by personal experience, but from a quick google search of the forum!

Will it fit? Yes! (no, if you have a gas tank skid)
Do the mounting bolt holes match? No!

From what I gathered, the rear-most mounting points line up but the others have to be drilled out. If you can get the hitch for cheap and dont mind a little work, go for it!
