Can someone aware me on this "lift" (PIC)

Just bought my first XJ, this one is sitting at 2" above stock. This is what is in the rear, PO said it is all the way down and can get 2 more inches if adjusted.

Most likely changing out for a RE 3.5 kit soon, but how does this work?

Looks like an adjustable shackle attached to seriously sagging (looks inverted) leaf spring. It looks as if the shackle is adjusted by turning the end in and out (it's threaded together like any other adjustable suspension piece such as control arm or track bar). RE kit sounds like a great idea compared to this in my opinion.

So what will I need to do to get back to stock? I assume full leafs with these shackles will be ridiculously tall when I only want 3-3.5"

Just get some stock shackles which are cheap...then it will be stock...and then get your 3-3.5 leaf pack bolted to them and it will be 3-3.5" taller than stock.

Is it me or does that look like someone just shortened an adjustable control arm ? I wanna bash it but it doesn't looks like that bad of an idea. As long as you don't extend it to a ridiculous length. And get a better leaf spring.

It does look pretty sturdy. I kind of like it.
