cage q's

What do you guys think of this?
http://www.rockhard4x4parts.com/cherokeexj.htm

I like where are the bars are posistioned, but I'm not sure if I like the hole bolt on thing. Also, do you think 1000 bucks is good, or do you think a custom fabricator can do a better cage for a cheaper price? Thanks

i would try to stay away from a bolt-in cage... just because... check out these two pre-bent/notched cages that are weld in. i would rather have the structural rigidity and peace of mind from a weld in cage than that of a bolt in one.

The setup looks ok. I like how the front mounts don't take up a lot of leg room in the front. Bolt on setups aren't as strong as welding, but for the weekend easy wheeler it isn't too bad. The mounting at the floor looks like the week point. It doesn't seem to tie into the frame rails at all. I thing $1000 is pretty steep compared to others I have seen in the $600-700 range. Personally, with your wheeling style (don't know you that weel, but I see you as a pretty avid wheeler), I think you might keep looking.

Hmm, I like the bottom one on T&J's page, thats 900 bucks, plus I'd need a welder to install it, but it looks awesome. Also, it does't affect anything on the inside as far as space. I like that one very very much.

That D&C ones looks great too, I just don't like the bar behind the seat, at least not for everyday use. I like to put my seat back alot, so maybe if I left that one bolt on it would be better. That would be great for shoulder harnesses.

Now, time to start saving

What do you think marty

Give these guys a yell...
http://www.swracecars.com/

They're down my way and will put together a cage to your specs for cheap. You just have to weld it in. It's where this one came from...

I don't like the idea of a bolt-together cage either...kinda scarey

I ordered a cage from D&C last week. Seemed to be a good deal for the price.
Now if it would hurry up and get here!

Get a bender and a welder and build your own.

yeah the bar behind the seat is for mounting up a harness... it looks like it doesnt interfere with anything though...

How much was it? I didn't see a price. Also, how the heck do you weld them in, like the roof bars, how do you weld the top of that. I'm gonna talk to EndlessMtnFab, but first, I gotta get one of these.

its $375. you dont actually weld the top bars to the roof, you just weld the cage together and then weld it to the floor. here's the supplied instructions right from d and c

Both your links for D&C don't work, but I figured it out. Damn for only 375 I'll deffinatly go for that one, unless you guys think this one is crap. That sounds like a really good price though. I really like that T&J one though, but thats alot of money, and it seems the other one is better.

Just remember one thing if you use a shoulder harness to the bar behind the seat, you must run cage supports under the seats and tie all the seat mounting into the cage and not the floor board anymore including your lap belt, reason is because in an extreem roll or something, the cage will have a tendency to seperate from the body portion of the vehicle and you don't want to be the joint trying to hold them together. Either you tie it all into the cage or you tie it all into the floor, not both

I personally don't see the point in an inside cage when you can put an external cage on it for about the same money and not only save your head, but also your rig. just my two cents.
